The most direct coating control method is the Quartz Crystal Microbalance Method (QCM). This instrument can directly drive the evaporation source and cyclically drive the baffle through PID control to maintain the evaporation rate.
As long as the instrument is connected with the system control software, it can control the entire coating process. But the accuracy of (QCM) is limited, partly because it monitors the quality of the coated film rather than its optical thickness.
In addition, although QCM is very stable at lower temperatures, it becomes very sensitive to temperature at higher temperatures. In the long-term heating process, it is difficult to prevent the sensor from falling into this sensitive area, thereby causing major errors to the film.

Optical monitoring is the preferred monitoring method for high-precision coatings because it can more accurately control the thickness of the film (if used properly).
